Kids help mother in car wreck

On Friday, April 11 two little boys, Will and Riley Boswell, became heroes to their mom, Sonya Boswell after their Tahoe wrecked on Lucy Lane while she was driving the boys to ball practice.
“The last thing I remember is leaving the house after buckling the boys in their car seat,” Boswell said. “They were playing their Gameboys in the backseat.”

    Newton Regional Hospital has just received a new piece of equipment that should make a big difference in patients receiving the right care in Newton and the surrounding area with a higher level of comfort, access and convenience. The new equipment is Toshiba’s Aquillon 16-Slice Computerized Tomography (CT) Scanner that represents a leap in imaging quality.

    LakeFest proved to be a successful day despite the rain earlier on Saturday. Vendors set their tents up and even though it was muddy that didn’t seem to stop many from shopping, eating and listening to the politicians and talent that appeared on stage.

    Mississippi State University Extension Service of Newton County visited Newton Pilate Middle School last week to present “Welcome to the Real World”, a life skills activity for eighth grade students.

  • Supes plot demise of Cogongrass
    Newton County Board of Supervisors met on Monday and among topics discussed was the problem with Cogongrass in the county. Bruce Jackson from the Department of Agriculture was on hand to provide information to the board on the effects of Cogongrass and how to eliminate it.

    The Pink Ladies of Newton Regional Hospital were honored with a reception for their hard work and many years of service on Friday, April 25. Bob Welborn, Hospital Administrator welcomed everyone.
