Newton County Academy was the first school in the county to kick off graduation exercises on Friday..
Graduation was held in the W.R. Lindsley gymnasium with 27 candidates receiving their diplomas from Headmaster Mike Tucker. Valedictorian was Abby McMillan, Salutatorium was Landon Burt and class Historian was Cody Cotten. The traditional 66 feet of roses were presented to the seniors in a rose ceremony. While the song The Rose played the Juniors layed the roses at the feet of the Seniors.
East Central Community College graduation is scheduled for May 10, 2007 at the Neshoba Coliseum.
More than 470 students are scheduled to receive diplomas Saturday, May 10, 2008, when East Central Community College holds its 79th Commencement beginning at 11 a.m. in the Neshoba County Coliseum in Philadelphia.
Included in the total are those who completed degree requirements following the 2007 summer and fall terms, according to Dr. Lavinia Sparkman, Vice President for Instruction.
Those participating in the program include graduating sophomores Jonathan Jackson of Hickory, who will give the invocation; Julie Gaines of Philadelphia, commencement speaker; and Drew Gillis of Decatur, benediction. Dru Anderson of Decatur and Ryan Reeves of Forest will present the musical selection “How You Live, Turn Up The Music.”
Dr. Sparkman will present candidates for graduation and ECCC President Dr. Phil A. Sutphin will award degrees and certificates.
Ken Stringer, principal of Newton County High School, announces that the Newton County High School Commencement Exercises will be held on Friday, May 16 at 8 p.m. on the Newton County High School Football Field. In case of rain, graduation exercises will be in the high school gymnasium. There are 97 candidates for graduation.
Newton High School will hold its Commencement Exercises on May 16 at 7 p.m. at Morgan Football Field.
There will be 65 candidates for graduation.
Rounding off the graduations will be Lake High School. Commencement Exercises will be held on May 22 at 6 p.m. at the high school gymnasium. There are approximately 40 candidates for graduation.
