State Sen. Terry Burton, R-Newton, was appointed to serve on the governing board of the Council of State Governments.
As a member of the board, Burton will share with other elected and appointed officials ideas on how Mississippi has resolved quality of life issues faced by states throughout the country.
The Council of State Governments forecasts policy changes in government on a national and regional basis and utilizes seasoned policy makers from across the country in its problem solving efforts.
Burton, who chairs the Senate Elections Committee, will benefit the CSG with his wealth of knowledge gathered across the years. The senator has served since 1992.
Burton, who recently met with CSG officials in Anchorage, was appointed by Lt. Governor Phil Bryant.
“It’s an honor to be on that board and work with the executive committee as we promote the issues and concerns of the states,” Burton said. “We draw the blueprints for the committees to follow as go down the road.”
