Lady Generals go 1-2 at East Rankin

The Newton County Academy Lady Generals opened their basketball season with a win and two losses in the East Rankin Academy Lady Patriot Invitational last week at Pelahatchie.
The Lady Generals are playing in the Benton Academy Pre-Season Tournament this week and face the hosts on Thursday.

East Rankin 59, NCA girls 45
ERA outscored the Lady Generals 36-23 over the middle quarters to grab the Oct. 30 win.
The Lady Patriots led 34-29 at halftime.
NCA, 0-1, got 17 points from Abby McMillan, 10 from Casey Rowzee, eight from Anna-Rose Blaylock, and six from Kate Mason.

NCA girls 67, Benton 30
Abby McMillan scored 19 points and Anna Williams tossed in 17 to lead NCA in Thursday’s win over Benton.
NCA jumped out to a 22-11 first quarter lead and carried a 38-21 advantage into halftime.
The Lady Generals stretched out to a 64-24 advantage through three periods.
NCA, 1-1, also got 13 points from Casey Rowzee, eight from Anna-Rose Blaylock, and five from Kate Mason.

MRA 64, NCA girls 35
Defending MPSA Overall champion MRA outscored NCA 18-5 in the second quarter of Saturday’s contest.
NCA, 1-2, got 11 points from Abby McMillan, nine from Anna-Rose Blaylock, and six from Anna Williams.
