Lady Generals get pair of wins

The Newton County Academy Lady Generals won both of their games in the Benton Academy Pre-Season Tournament last week to up their record to 3-2.
The Generals join the Lady Generals in hardwood action this week. After going to Lamar Christian on Tuesday, NCA will host Sylva-Bay Academy on Thursday and University Christian School on Friday.
NCA closes out pre-Thanksgiving action on Monday, Nov. 19, at Leake Academy.

NCA girls 61, Tri-County 44
Casey Rowzee tossed in 22 points to lead the Lady Generals in the Nov. 5 win in the Benton tournament. She made three 3-point baskets.
NCA led 14-11 after one quarter, 33-21 at halftime, and 47-28 through three periods.
The Lady Generals, 2-2, also got 16 points from Abby McMillan, 10 from Anna-Rose Blaylock, and four from Anna Williams. Nine of the 10 Lady Generals scored.
Kristin Purvis led Tri-County with 10 points. Hailey Cumberland and Morgan Smith both scored eight.

NCA girls 60, Benton 24
The Lady Generals improved to 3-2 with Thursday’s win at Benton.
NCA jumped out to a 16-9 first quarter lead, then removed all doubt by outscoring Benton 21-0 in the second quarter to take a 37-9 lead into halftime. The Lady Generals led 52-17 after three periods.
NCA got 15 points from Casey Rowzee, 12 from Abby McMillan, nine from Anna-Rose Blaylock, eight from Anna Williams, and four each from Hanah Parker, Cora Boatwright, and Kate Mason. Nine of the 10 Lady Generals scored in the rout.
Ashley Boatner and Katie Carr both scored six to lead the Lady Raiders.
