Leake sweeps NCA

Both Newton County Academy teams came up well short in losses to Leake Academy at Madden on Nov. 19 to wrap up pre-Thanksgiving action.
The Lady Generals dropped to 6-3, while the Generals fell to 2-2.
NCA returned to action on Tuesday against Heidelberg Academy and will go to Russell Christian Academy on Thursday before going to Sylva-Bay Academy on Dec. 4.

Leake 89, NCA girls 43
Leake improved to 6-0 with the blowout. Leake grabbed a 37-12 lead in the first quarter and carried a 56-19 advantage into halftime.
Anna-Rose Blaylock tossed in 23 points to lead NCA, 6-3. Casey Rowzee added seven, while Anna Williams and Abby McMillan both had four.
Leake got 15 points from Hannah Lee, 14 from Mary Lauren Wilson, 10 from Kelsey Harvey, and eight from Hailey Henderson. Sixteen of Doyle Wolverton’s 18 players scored.

Leake 84, NCA boys 46
The Generals hung with the Rebels for a quarter, trailing 15-14 after eight minutes.
Leake outscored NCA 30-13 over the second quarter to take a 45-27 lead into halftime. The Rebels then used a 29-9 advantage in the third quarter to go up 74-36.
NCA, 2-2, got 14 points from Brody Thomas, 10 from Landon Burt, eight from Ryan Morrison, six from Ryan Collins, and four each from Rob Roberts and Cody Cotten.
