Dock Bower Wall
Services for Dock Bower Wall were held Sunday, Jan. 14 at McNeece-Morris Funeral Home in Fulton with Bro. Jim Fisher and Bro. Tracy McMillen officiating. Burial was at the Itawamba Memorial Gardens.
Wall, 74, died Friday, Jan. 12 at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.
Survivors include his wife, Jessie Ruth Wall, his children, Greg Wall and wife Stacy of Fulton, Sonia Alford and husband Mike of Tupelo, Randy Wall of Tupelo, Eric Wall and fiance Alyce Babineaux of Lafayette, La.; his grandchildren, Chandler Davis Wall, Lyndsey Grace Alford and Sydney Claire Alford and special friend of the family Travis Terrill; 1 brother, Wallace Wall and wife Edith from Raymond.
He was preceded in death by his parents, M.B. and Mary Wall, brother Pat Wall and sister, Evelyn Meyers.
Wall was born March 3, 1932 in Newton County.
He graduated from Newton High School, and East Central Community College. He completed his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees at the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg.
He was a retired coach and teacher serving as the football coach at State line High School in State Line, head football coach at Fulton Jr. High School, head baseball coach at Itawamba Agricultural High School, assistant football coach at Itawamba Community College and retired in 1987 as a Vocational Guidance Counselor in the Itawamba school system.
He was a member of Fulton United Methodist Church. He was a Master Mason and a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite and a Shriner. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean conflict, serving 20 months in Germany. He spent his retirement years quail hunting, cattle farming, training quarter horses and spending time with his grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Perry Franks, Curtis Monroe, Harold Martin, Ricky Duncan, Richard Duncan and Mark Burleson.
Honorary pallbearers were Johnny George Wall, Rex Hollingsworth, Wyndle Alford, Jimmy Luther and Neal Ellis.
Ruby Lee Watson
Mrs. Ruby Lee Watson was born the fourth child to the late Mr. Clinton and Laura Wilson. After a lengthy illness on Sunday, Jan. 7, 2007 at Regency Hospital in Meridian, she departed this life at 4:35 p.m., to be forever more with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
She was united in Holy Matrimony to Jack Watson. To this union, three daughters were born.
Mrs. Watson entered the work world at Newton Hospital. Worked 18 years at Newton CocaCola Bottling Company, and at ESCO for eight years.
She leaves to cherish her memory: three daughters, Mrs. Jacquelyn McSwain, Mrs. Linda (James) Hill both of Flint, Mich., and Ms. Ruby A. Jones of Newton, three sisters: Mrs. Bessie (Clarence) McDowell of Joliet, Ill. , Mrs. Shirley Ranson of St. Louis, Mo., and Mrs. Estella Thames of Detroit, Mich.; 10 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren; a devoted sister-in-law, Mrs. Lela Watson; four special friends, Mrs. Angeline Franklin, Ms. Nettie Hillie, Mrs. Onnie Donald and Mrs. Bonnie Jackson; three loving nieces, Laura Newell, Gloria and Lizzie Wilson, all of Pelahatchie and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Susan Collins Logan
Services for Susan Collins Logan were held Sunday, Jan. 7 at Ott and Lee Funeral Home chapel in Brandon with burial in Lawrence Cemetery in Lawrence. The Rev. Kelly Pope officiated.
Mrs. Logan, 58, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 4, 2007 at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson.
Mrs. Logan was born in Oxford and was a graduate of Oxford High School and Milsaps College. She taught school for 29 years in the public schools in Newton and Brandon and later at Madison-Ridgeland Academy.
She was an active member of First United Methodist Church of Brandon, serving on key committees which included the Staff Parish Relations Committee, Finance Committee and Administrative Board. She served as a prayer warrior and was a member of the United Methodist Women. She also dedicated time to Madison-Ridgeland Academy where her son is enrolled in high school, serving as a Sophmore Navigator and Senior Navigator. In addition, she demonstrated tireless devotion for her family, and most especially her two grandchildren, Jacks and Milla.
She is survived by her husband of 37 years, John Joseph “Jojo” Logan, Jr. of Brandon; 3 children, Clancy Mitchell and husband Lee of Jackson, Rivers Pace and husband Chal of Brandon and Jody Logan of Brandon; 1 brother, Ken Collins of Madison; 2 grandchildren, Jacks Mitchell and Milla Pace.
Pallbearers were Kendol and Matt Collins, Dan Brian, Robert Logan, W.L. Whittington, Watson Purvis, David Trewolla and Therrell Myers.

Don R. Evans
Services for Don Evans were held Tuesday, Jan. 23 at 11 a.m. at Barham Chapel in Newton, with the Rev. Tom Sorrell officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Methodist Church Cemetery with Barham Funeral Home in Newton in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Evans, 71, of Newton, died Jan. 21 at Regency Hospital in Meridian.
He retired from the Miss. Highway Patrol after 30 years of service. He was a member of Newton United Methodist Church, and was an avid reader. He enjoyed gardening and loved the outdoors, especially flowers. Mr. Evans loved his grandchildren dearly, and they were his life.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Bobbie Williams Evans of Newton, a son, Greg Evans and wife Kay of Newton, and grandchildren Kelli Rae Evans and Trenton Graham Evans of Newton.
Pallbearers were Ricky Russell, Bobby Parker, Tiny Parker, Denny Williams, Doug Glenn, Bill Emmons, Clinton Coker and Allen McElroy. Honorary pallbearers were Miss. Highway Patrol Officers.
Artie Jane Ford Box
Artie Jane Ford Box, 89, died Thursday, Jan. 11 at the Nichols Center. Graveside services were Monday in the Newton Masonic Cemetery in Newton with Father Frank Cosgrove officiating.
Mrs. Box grew up in Newton, where she worked at her family’s business, the Ford’s Ice Cream Plant. She was a graduate of Belhaven College and earned her Master’s Degree from Mississippi College. She taught school at Forest Hill School until Van Winkle was built and she moved there, staying over 20 years, to teach 6th grade and later serving as the principal. She was formerly a member of Leavell Woods United Methodist Church and was currently a member of St. Matthews United Methodist Church. After her retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her sister in Dothan, Ala. She lived the last 6 years at the Bond Home and the Nichols Center.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Lee Jewel McMullan and her husband Joe and a brother, Jeff Ford and his wife Lucille.
She is survived by her sons, Bill and his wife Harriet of Boston, Mass. and Tom and his wife Karyn of Clinton; 1 daughter, Jan and her husband Bruce Evans, who was considered a son by Mrs. Box, of Madison; 6 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; a niece, Jo Jeff Ford Gordon of Jackson; a nephew, Don McMullan of Dothan, Ala. and her great nieces and nephews.
