NEWTON James M. Shepherd

Waveland - James Miles Shepherd, 49, died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2008 at his home. Funeral services were held at 11a.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, 2008 at the Ott & Lee Funeral Home Chapel in Morton with burial in the Pulaski Cemetery. Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton handled the arrangements.

James was a former resident of Newton and had lived on the Coast for 25 plus years. He was employed by Lockheed Martin where he received multiple awards. James will be remembered as a hard worker to all his friends and family. He was of the Methodist faith.

He is survived by his daughter, Lauren Shepherd of Biloxi; parents, James P. and Ella Mary Shepherd of Morton; two sisters, Suzanne Easterling (Randy) of Morton and Sherry Wallace (Ken) of Meridian; two brothers, Steve Shepherd (Jinna) of Brandon and Stacey Shepherd of Pulaski; two aunts, Shirley Brown (Tommy D.) of Mendenhall and Shirley Hodgson of Allyn, Wash.; along with several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.

The family requests that memorials be made to the Pulaski Cemetery Fund, 83 Jolynn St., Morton, MS 39117.



Arthur L. White

TUSCUMBIA – Arthur L. White, age 92 of Tuscumbia passed away Sunday, Feb. 3, 2008 after an extended illness. Visitation was Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2008 at Morrison’s Funeral Home in Tuscumbia. Services were to be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday in the Funeral Home chapel with his sons, Ed White and Sidney White officiating. Grandsons served as pallbearers. Burial will be in Pine Ridge Cemetery near Lake on Thursday, Feb. 7, 2008 at 1 p.m.

White was born January 18, 1916 to the late Walter and Eula White of Lake. He was a mill worker, farmer and carpenter prior to his retirement. He served his Lord by teaching Bible classes, song leading and serving as a deacon in the church while residing in Tupelo. He and his wife, Hazel moved to Tuscumbia in 1992 and he was a member of the Valdosta Church of Christ in Tuscumbia.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Eula White; by his first wife, Nannie Ellen White; his brother, Otis White; four sisters, Louise White, Ava Mae Dill, Vera Wilson and Maudean Pace; and a beloved great grandson, five year old Brett White.

He is survived by his wife, Hazel White of Tuscumbia, sister, Mildred Winstead of Maryville, Tenn., three children, Ed White (Fay) of Tuscumbia, Sidney White (Ann) of Bremen, Ga., and Helen Wade (David) of Chickamauga, Ga., nine grandchildren; nine great-granchildren; four step great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that loved him very much.

He was a blessing to all who knew him. His quick wit and generous smile will be greatly missed. The family would like to express their gratitude to all of the doctors, nurses and other health providers who have overseen his care, and also to all who have offered up prayers on his behalf.



Jimmy W. May

MOBILE – Jimmy W. May, 65, a native of Lawrence and a long-time resident of Mobile died on Friday, Dec. 21, 2007 at a local hospital.

Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2007 at 11 a.m. at St. Dominic Catholic Church. Burial was in Mobile Memorial Gardens.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Barbara Presley May of Mobile, children; Scott (Kelly) May, Guy May and Stephanie (Paul) Maddox all of Mobile, mother Cathereen Craven May of Lawrence, grandchildren; Tiffany Davis, Joshua Grant, Joshua May and Donald Paul Maddox, III, Marian Presley, brothers and sisters in law, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father James A. May and sister Wanda Pittman.

He was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church and was owner with his sons of Appliance & Refrigeration Parts.
