Otis Ray Lundy

Graveside service’s for .Otis Ray Lundy were held Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2007. Rev. Jerry Lundy officiated with entombment at his residence (341 Lundy Road) Union, Mississippi.

Lundy, 55, passed away Saturday, Feb. 10 at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center in Meridian.

Survivors include; a son; Otis Matthew Lundy of D’Iberville, his mother; Vera Lundy of Union, two sisters; Martha Conner of Albuquerque, N. M. and Rebecca Burkett of Union.

He was survived by many nieces and nephews. Lundy was preceded in death by a son; Lucas Ray Lundy.



Patrick C. Everett

Everett passed away Jan. 5, 2007 in Roseville, Calif.. He was 89 years old. He is survived by his former wife Keiko Everett, his children Tricia, Norman, Jenniefer, Tim, Bonita, Roberta, Cynthia, Linda and Pamela, and his grandchildren. He was a Col. in the USAF proudly serving his country for 35 years. Visitation was January 10 and the service was on January 11 at Mount Vernon Mortuary, Fair Oaks, California.



Gary W. Campbell

Services for Gary W. “Soup” Campbell were held Saturday, Feb. 10,1 2007 at Moore Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Hillcrest Cemetery.

Campbell, 53, of Newton, died Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2007, in Newton County.

Survivors include his wife, Terri Campbell; his father, W.H. “Dub” Campbell of Petal; a daughter, Abbie Campbell; a sister Connie Gupton of Poplarville; and a brother Billy Campbell of Ellisville.

He was preceded in death by a daughter Colleen Elizabeth Campbell and his mother, Alice Bernice Campbell.

Visitation was Friday, 5-8 p. m. Feb. 9, 2007 at the funeral home.



A. Q. Cleveland

Services for A.Q. Cleveland were held Sunday, Feb. 11 at 2 p.m. at Barham Funeral Home in Newton County, with the Rev. Sorrells officiating. Burial was in Newton County Memorial Gardens with Barham Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Cleveland, 78, of Newton County, died Friday, Feb. 9, 2007, at Anderson Hospital in Meridian. He was retired from Newton county and was a member of Newton United Methodist Church.

Survivors include is wife Maudie Cleveland of Newton county; two sons, Jeff Cleveland and wife Dana of Chunky and Bruce Cleveland of Newton; two sisters, Mahel Byre Citronelle and Thelma Wilson of Biloxi; a brother, John Cleveland of Ridge Crest, Calif.; two grandchildren, Alex and Andie Cleveland of Chunky, numerous nieces and nephews.



Linda Faye Henley Hitt

Services for Ms. Linda Faye Henley Hitt will be held at 2 p. m., Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2007 at Hickory Baptist Church. Rev. Rodney Anderson, Rev. Guy Odom, and Rev. Mark Vincent will officiate with burial in the Hudson Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-9 p. m., Tuesday, February 13, 2007 at Milling Funeral Home of Union.

Ms. Hitt, 36, died Sunday, February 11, 2007 at University Medical Center.

Survivors include: a daughter; Gillian Hitt of Decatur, mother; Faye Henley of Hickory, father; M.L. Henley, Jr. and wife Judy of Lake, a brother; Millard Henley III and wife Amy of Atlanta, Georgia, a sister; Michelle Brewer and husband Judd of Hattiesburg, a nephew; Colby Thomas Brewer of Hattiesburg, a half sister; Jennifer Green of Lake, 1 step-brother; Michael Parks of Newton, In-Laws; Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Hitt and Aletha Hitt of Union, Paternal Grandmother; Mary Fountain Henley of Newton.

Linda was preceded in death by her husband Jeff Hitt and maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Chesney and paternal grandfather, M.L. (Buck) Henley, Sr.

Ms. Hitt was a third grade teacher for over 10 years at Newton County Elementary.

Pallbearers; Michael Butler, Keith Johnson, Aaron Kelly, Vincent McElhenney, Daniel Steverson, Dale Pattillo, Flynn Steverson, Lee Youngblood.

Honorary Pallbearers; Newton County Elementary School Faculty and Staff.



Ada Laura (Crosby) Page Dawkins

Services were held February 3, 2007 for Ada Dawkins at Good Hope Baptist Church, Hickory. Rev.George Smith, Rev.Oscar Lee Page and Rev. Claud Dawkins officiated.

Mother was a vital and active member of the Good Hope Church and community. She participated in the church choir acting as president for many years, ushered at Good Hope, was elected president of Home Mission Society at Good Hope and held that office for several years. She also was industrious in coordinating a number of events and after church affairs.

Mother was the historian for the Women Department for the third Enterprise District Association. Mother participated in the Vocal Singing Convention. Ada Laura was also a member of the gospel singing group, The Good Hope Sextet; they sang for many years and had numerous followers and supporters. The crowds used to love to hear them sing, “I am Bound for Canon Land”, three other signature songs were, “God’s Amazing Grace”, “I Love The Lord, He Heard My Cry”, and “I Got Jesus, and That’s Enough.”

Gone on to prepare a place for Ada Laura Crosby Page Dawkins includes her loving husband, Mr. Costeller Dawkins and three sons, Robert “Toddy”, James and Charles; Her Mother, Mrs. Ada Morrell Crosby, and her Father, Mr. Will Lee Crosby; Her brother, Amos John Crosby, and a sister, Alice Elnora Crosby Friday.

The legacy she leaves will be continued by her five sons, Oscar Lee (Ethel) Elvin, Milton (Doris), Claud (Delores), Don (Bonita), Five daughters, Mae Ruth, Ollie Jean, Sylvia, Alice and Laura.

She made room in her heart and home for three special daughters, Sherry (Johnnie), Monica, and Bonita.

Mother leaves forty-eight (48) grandchildren, thirty-seven (37) great-grandchildren, and eight (8) great-great grandchildren.

She also leaves one brother, Wilson Bruce Crosby of Bay Springs and three sisters, Ms. Ella Mae Ward of Farrell, PA; Ms. Ruby Viola McQueen of Erie, PA; Ms. Lillie L. McMIn of St. Louis, Mo
