A. Q. Cleveland

Services for A.Q. Cleveland were held Sunday, Feb. 11 at 2 p.m. at Barham Funeral Home in Newton County, with the Rev. Sorrells officiating. Burial was in Newton County Memorial Gardens with Barham Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Cleveland, 78, of Newton County, died Friday, Feb. 9, 2007, at Anderson Hospital in Meridian. He was retired from Newton County and was a member of Newton United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife Maudie Cleveland of Newton County; two sons, Jeff Cleveland and wife Dana of Chunky and Bruce Cleveland of Newton; two sisters, Mable Byrd of Citronelle and Thelma Wilson of Biloxi; a brother, John Cleveland of Ridge Crest, La.; two grandchildren, Alex and Andie Cleveland of Chunky, numerous nieces and nephews.



Annie Mae

Fulton Bryan

Funeral services for Annie Mae Fulton Bryan were held Monday, Feb. 19, 2007 at 2 p.m. from the chapel of McClain-Hays Funeral Home in Philadelphia. The Rev. Johnny Crosby officiated. Burial was in North Bend Methodist Cemetery in Neshoba County.

Mrs. Bryan, 94, of Decatur, died Saturday, Feb, 17, 2007 at Regency Hospital of Meridian.

Survivors include her sons: Jason Hiram Bryan of Decatur; Jerry Andy Bryan and his wife, Tudy Jane of Perkinston; E. Everette Bryan of Boston, Mass; Earnest A. Bryan of Decatur; Earl W. Bryan and his wife, Gene of Decatur; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were: Paul Friedman, Earl Bryan, Jerry Andy Bryan, Everette Bryan, Earnest Bryan and Dylan Bryan.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Earnest W. Bryan; two daughters: Mary Ann Curtin and Retha Bryan Friedman.

She was born and reared in the North Bend Community of Neshoba County to the late Hiram and Fannie Fulton but she had made her home in Decatur since 1958. She had taught public school for over 40 years in North Carolina, Virginia and Mississippi. She was a member of Decatur United Methodist Church.



Mary Jean Foreman

Jackson

Services for Mrs. Mary Jean Foreman Jackson were held Thursday, Feb. 15, at 11 a.m. at Newton United Methodist Church with the Rev. Tom Sorrell and Dr. Donnie South officiating. Burial was in Hickory cemetery with James F. Webb Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Visitation was Thursday from 9 a.m. till service time at the church .

Mrs. Jackson, 80 of Newton died February 12 at Newton Regional Hospital.

Survivors include a daughter; Mary F. “Sissie” Haynie and her husband George of Brandon: a son Donald Foreman and his wife Jackie of Brandon; five grand-children, Ellen Mason and husband Jon of Newton, Jeana Power and husband Mark of Brandon, Kevin Foreman and wife Lee Ann of Brandon, Donald Maury Walley, Clifton, Ms, D’Ann Walley; Brandon, four great-grandchildren; Josh Mason, Newton, Jordan Mason, Newton, Jack Foreman, Brandon, Tripp Power, Brandon and soon to arrive Avery Parks Power. Three special nieces; Mary Beth Nelson, JoAnne Nicholson and June DePriest.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lamar Edwin “Ed” Foreman and Kermit Jackson; a son James T. “Jimmy” Foreman; a sister; Marie Gibson Whatley; a brother; James Hendrix Gibson; parents; Zachary Taylor and Annie McDonald Gibson.

The family requests memorials be made to Newton United Methodist Church, 600 Decatur Street, Newton, Ms. 39345.

Mrs. Foreman was a member of the Newton United Methodist Church since 1939 where she served as secretary of the Administrative Board, Treasurer of the Crusaders Sunday School Class and the Local Conference Treasurer of the United Methodist Women and a member of the Ruth Circle. After retiring she joined the Hospital Auxiliary where she served as secretary and year book chairman.

Pallbearers were great-nephews Steve Nelson, Joel Nelson, Scotty Massingill, Bill DePriest and Ronny Nicholson. Honorary pallbearers were Newton Pink Ladies Auxiliary, Crusaders Sunday School Class and Ruth Circle.



Frances Chlodelle

Mayes

Services for Mrs. Frances Chlodelle Mayes were held Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2007 at 2 p.m. at Webb Chapel. at James F. Webb Funeral Home at Newton with the Rev. Wayne Griffith, and Mark McDonald officiating. Burial was at Beat Line cemetery with Webb in charge of arrangements.

Visitation was at the funeral home Feb. 19, 2007 from 5-8 p.m. and Feb. 20, 2007 from 8 a.m. until service time.

Mrs. Mayes, 81, of Decatur died Feb. 17, 2007 at the hospice, In His Hands in Madden.

Survivors include; two sons, Larry and his wife Margaret Mayes; Conehatta and Gerald and his wife Arlene Mayes of Baton Rouge, La. a sister; Ann Gaines of Newton, a sister-in-law; Inez Thornton of Hickory, four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Samuel B. Mayes; her parents, Joel and Velma Ledlow Thornton; and a brother the Rev. Clifton Thornton.

Mrs. Mayes was a self-employed store owner and was born in Newton County. She was a member of Beat Line Baptist Church and Beat Line WMU.

Pallbearers were Clifton Thornton, Jr., Wesley Mayes, Wallace Mayes, Mack Hollingsworth, Johnny Gaines and Jimmy Gaines.



Margurite E. Graham

Services for Margurite E. Graham were held Monday, Feb. 19, 2007 at Sulfur Springs Baptist Church with Bro. Keith Fulton, Bro. Randell Creel, and Bro. Timmy Fanquy officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery with Wilcox Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Graham, 84, a retired seamstress died Friday, Feb. 16, 2007 at Leake Extended Care.

Mrs. Graham was a native of Newton County and a member of Old White Plains Church of God.

Survivors include: a daughter, Mary Helen McKinney of Edinburg; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were: Talmadge Anthony, Tommy Anthony, Charles Mac Edwards, Charles Graham, Kenneth Graham, and Iran Hillman.

Honorary pallbearers were: Finley Edwards, Bill Fisher, Giles Gunn, Tommy Gunn, James Walker, and Wendell Walker.
