Mildred Frye Gallaspy
Jefferson
NEWTON –– Services for Mildred Frye Gallaspy Jefferson were held Saturday, April 21, 2007 at 2 p.m. at Little Rock M.B. Church in Hickory, with Rev. Carl Smith officiating. Burial was in Little Rock Cemetery. Progressive Funeral Home of Newton was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Jefferson, 85, died April 14, 2007 at the Regency Hospital in Meridian.
Survivors include 9 children: John Thomas, T.J., Linda and husband Larry of Flint, Michigan, Willie of Jackson, Tenn., Curtis and wife Helen of Laurel, Mary, Lizzie, Roberta of Newton, Dorothy and husband David of Sebastopol; 2 stepchildren, C.W. Townsend and wife Jocelyn of Decatur and Mattie Ruth Odd of Chicago, Ill.; 19 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great grandchildren; 1 sister, Mattie Estes of Gulfport and a host of other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Willie Lee Gallaspy, second husband Tommie Lee Jefferson and brother King Henry Anthony.
She was a member of Little Rock M.B. Church where she was a member of the Home Mission Society.
Pallbearers were friends of the family.
Louise Emmons
Overstreet
NEWTON — Services for Louise Emmons Overstreet were held Thursday, April 19, at 11 a.m. at James F. Webb Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. S. Guy Odom and Johnny Crosby officiating. Burial was in Lebanon Cemetery.
Mrs. Overstreet, 88, of Newton, died Tuesday, April 17, 2007, in Bedford Care Center.
Survivors include her daughter, Shirley Crain and her husband, Don, of Bogalusa, La.; sons, Donald Overstreet and his wife, Flora, of Hickory, Raymond Overstreet and his wife, Jane, of Decatur; grandchildren, Gary Crain of Hackley, La., Mike Crain, of Angie, La., Sandra Walker of Hickory, Penny Vance and Melissa Spears both of Decatur, and Wayne Overstreet, of Cumming, Ga.; 14 great-grandchildren; sisters, Christine “Sarah” Herd of Union, Mary Ann Davis of Bogalusa and a brother, Edward Emmons of Bogalusa and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Madison Overstreet; parents, Isom and Myrtle Emmons; brothers, Carl Emmons, Lee Merle Emmons; sisters, Ila Mae Mizell, Lucille Varnado, Ora Lee Overstreet and Dorothy Emmons.
Pallbearers will be Gary Crain, Mike Crain, Wayne Overstreet, Johnny Walker and Johnny Knochenmuss, Cotton Crain, Hunter Vance and Tyler Spears.
Jerry H. Buntyn
DECATUR — Funeral Services for Mr. Jerry H. Buntyn will be held 2 p.m. today, April 25, 2007 at Milling Funeral Home Chapelin Union. The Revs. Jimmy Holder, David Airhart and Mark Vincent will officiate with burial in the Lucern Congregational Methodist Church Cemetery. Buntyn, 66, died Monday, April 23, 2007 at his residence in Decatur.
Survivors include: his loving wife of 47 years, Margaret Buntyn of Decatur, a daughter, Penny Castle of Decatur, two sons, Jerry Mark Buntyn and wife Theresa of Decatur, Bill Buntyn of Decatur, six grandchildren, Ashley Parks, Eric Buntyn, Wesley Buntyn, Michael Buntyn, Amberly and Allison Euper, three sisters, Lucille Kimbell of Kosciusko, Blanche Buntyn of Union, Mollie Davidson of Byrum, two brothers, Willie Buntyn of Union and Joe Buntyn of Collinsville.
He is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Milling Funeral Home of Union are in charge of arrangements.
