Kathryn Elizabeth Miley Denham
Kathryn Elizabeth Miley Denham, 89, of Tucker, Georgia died on May 4, 2007.
Kathryn Miley was born on May 7, 1917, daughter of John Plummer Miley and Kate Raley Miley of Newton. She was the granddaugher of Reverend Thomas Jefferson (T.J.) Miley and Missouri Ann Franklin Miley
Katie, as she was known graduated from Clark Memorial College in 1936, attended Stetson University, and graduated from Mississippi ‘College in 1938. For most of her professional career she served as an elementary school librarian in Miami. At the time of her death, she was the church librarian for the First Baptist Church of Tucker, Georgia, and was a member of the Alpha Rho Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma as well as the Stone Mountain Georgia chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include her daughter, Karen Denham Downen, Tucker, Georgia, three grandchildren, Katie Downen, Orange County, California, Sarah Downen, Atlanta and Jeff Downen of Atlanta. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fredric Charles Denham, III, F&AM and Yaarab Shrine, and her grandson, Charles Brian Downen. Funeral services were held on May 11, 2007 at Newton Masonic Cemetery with James F. Webb Funeral Home of Newton.
Dewitt T. (D.T.) Walker
Funeral services for Mr. Walker will be held Thursday May 17, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church with the Reverend Steve Pouncey officiating. Burial will be in church cemetery. James F. Webb Funeral Home of Newton will be in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Walker, 89, of Newton, died Monday, May 14, 2007 at Guardian Angel Health Care, Meridian. He was born May 16, 1917 in Jasper County. He was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church. He was a retired cattle rancher. He was also a veteran of The U.S. Army and served in WW II.
He is survived by his sister Waurean Wilson of Newton. Guardian (nephew) Bill Boulton and wife Helen of Newton. He also had numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife Ruby Walker, parents, Dewitt T. Walker and Ora Walker, step-father, C.H. Walker, brothers; Robert F. Walker and Clarence Walker, sister Mary E. Boulton, Carlene Loper and Edna E. Grantham.
Pallbearers will be Allison Wilson, Larry Loper, Randy Loper, Paul Boulton, Bill Boulton and Ras Jones.
Visitation will be Wednesday, May 16 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
