NEWTON —
John William McMillan
Services for John William McMillan, 80, of Newton were held at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, May 25, 2006, in First Baptist Church of Newton with Dr. Frank Harmon and Rev. John Tillery officiating. Visitation was held Wednesday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Webb F. H. and from 8 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Internment was at Old Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery in Jasper County with James F. Webb Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were Charles Godwin, Bob Bridges, Joe McMillan, Joey Murphey, Buster Bounds, Ronnie Page, Mark Killens and Tony Adams. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Berean Sunday school class.
McMillan was born in Jasper County and was a retired agronomist for Mississippi State University and Angus cattle farmer. He was a member of First Baptist Church, where he taught the Berean Sunday school class, member of the Lion Club and past District Governor, American Angus Association, Mississippi Angus association, Sons of American Revolution, and Mississippi Cattlemen’s Association, served in U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Mattie Claire Campbell McMillan, of Newton, daughter Janie Kate and her husband Ben Blass-ingame, of Thomason, Ga., daughter Claire and her husband Steve Curtis, of Starkville, son Will and his wife Jan McMillan, of Newton, son Arthur and his wife Alisia McMillan, of Enterprise, brother Jack McMillan, of Enterprise and 10 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by parents Clayton Earl and Kate Wyatt McMillan.
Patsy Gibson Boutwell
Services for Patsy Gibson Boutwell, 59, of Newton, were held Sunday, May 28, 2006 at 2p.m. at Webb Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation was Saturday from 5 to 8p.m. at Webb Funeral Home with Rev. Joey Lang officiating.
Pallbearers were Charles Gibson, Rodney Gibson, Christopher Boutwell, Ray Boutwell and Wendell Hodge.
Burial was in Midway Baptist Church Cemetery with James F. Webb Funeral Home of Newton in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include: her husband, Green Boutwell, of Newton; daughter Regina and husband Adam Brandon, of Petal; son Christopher Boutwell, of Newton; sister Penny Hodge, of Clinton; two brothers Charles Gibson, of Monticello and Rudy Gibson, of Portland, Ore. and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents Roy Lee and Doris Chapman Gibson.
Boutwell was a homemaker and worked for Decatur Shirt Factory. She attended Liberty Baptist Church.
Daniel Fore Jay, Jr.
Services for Daniel Fore Jay, Jr., 58, of Rose Hill, are today at 11:30 a.m. at Poplar Springs Baptist Church. Visitation was Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home with Revs. Keith Bogan and Judd Meaders officiating. Burial will be in Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetary with James F. Webb Funeral Home of Newton in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers are Kevin Hardwell, Darin Hardwell, Danny Presley, Fred Sternes, David Pearsons, Shae Jay and David Brown.
Survivors include: his wife, Catherine Jay, of Rose Hill; daughter Carol Fulford and her husband Shane, of Avon, OH.; daughter Kimberly Lindley and her husband Scott; of Hattisburg; daughter Amanda Jay, of Fort Meyers; son Shane Jay, of Savannah, Ga.; five step children: Cathy Presley, of Preston; Elizabeth Pearsons, of Newton; Lora Mae Lewis, of Philadelphia; Larry Smith, of Greenville; Wesley Smith, of Booneville; sister Lillian Hardwell, of Braxton; sister Elaine Starnes, of Chalmette, La. and brother William Jay, of Benton, Ark. and 13 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by her parents Daniel Fore Jay Sr. and Lillie Adams Jay.
Jay was a self employed sanitary welder. He attended Rose Hill Baptist Church.
Charles Wayne Manasco
Services for Charles Wayne Manasco, 67, of Newton were held Monday, May 29 at 10:30 a.m. at Berham Chapel in Newton with Rev. Steve Pouncey officiating. Visitation was held Sunday between 5 and 8 p.m. Burial will be in Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Cemetary with Barham Funeral Home in Newton in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include: his wife, Clara Elizabeth, of Newton; daughter Betty Brown and husband Ronald Brown, of Gulfport; son Freddy Harris and wife Charlene, of Ocean Springs; daughter Deborah Hilmmaugh and husband Glen, of Fl.; five grandsons: Trace, Justin, Joseph, Bobby and Ross; two great grandchildren; sister Lanell Ivey, of Pearl; brother Tim Manasco and wife Barbara, of Slidell, La.
Manasco was a US Army Veteran, retiree from New Orleans Police Department, retiree from MS State Child Support Enforcement, active member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, and he loved sports, fishing, and golfing and was a member of the Decatur Country Club.
