NEWTON Millard Lee Ezell

Decatur

Funeral services for Millard Lee Ezell were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 12, 2007 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home Chapel in Forest with burial in Conehatta Cemetery.

Pastor Sarah Windham officiated and Paul Johnson delivered the eulogy.

Ezell, 64, died Sunday, June 10, 2007, at his residence in Decatur.

He was a native and lifelong resident of Decatur and a member

of the Pleasant Valley Methodist Church. Ezell was also a member of the

Magnolia Crappie Club where he had previously served as vice-president. He

was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow and Margaret Ezell.

Survivors include his very special friend and fishing buddy, Martha Barrett

of Decatur; a son, Leighton Ezell and wife, Rosalind of Grenada; two

sisters, Betty Stamper and husband, Melvin of Lawrence and Dianne Smith and

husband, Milton of Decatur; an aunt, Nita McKinnon of Meridian; five

grandchildren, Chris Ezell, Colby Ezell, Chelsy Ezell, Ashley Osborne and

Amber Osborne; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Charles Talley, Rabbit Rogers, Charlie Henry, Charles

Lindsay, Gil Woodis, Paul Johnson, Lowell Jones and Kenny Blackwell. Honorary

pallbearers were members of the Magnolia Crappie Club.

Memorials can be made to American Cancer Society or the Disabled Sportsmen’s

Association.



Alice Allene Alexander

Conehatta

Funeral services for Mrs. Alice Allene Alexander were held Friday, June 8, 2007 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home Chapel in Forest with burial in Salem Baptist

Cemetery. Rev. Tommy Anderson officiated.

Mrs. Alexander, 66, died Tuesday, June 5, 2007, at River Oaks

Hospital in Flowood.



Mr. Martin Ezra Jones

Tupelo

Services for Martin Ezra Jones, 98, were held Services were held at 1:30, June 12, 2007 at the Tupelo chapel of Holland-Harris Funeral Directors with Bro. David Langerfield officiating. Burial followed in Lee Memorial Park.

Jones died Sunday, June 10, 2007 at his residence in Tupelo after a sudden illness. Survivors include his son: Keith Jones and his wife, Libby of Tupelo; two grandsons: Chris Jones (Joyce) and Jason Jones (Sonya) all of Tupelo. Six great grandchildren: Tyler, Miranda, Jacob, Brent, Katherine, and Alice. One sister: Izilla McMahon of Union. His faithful neighbor and special friend, S.F. Henderson of Tupelo. Several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, three sisters: Irene White, Emma Lou McMullan and Ada Jones. Three brotheras: Aaron, Amos and J.B.

Jones was born on January 2, 1909 in the Hebron Community of Newton County to the late Martin Rasberry and Dora Louella Bradley Jones. He was graduated in 1929 from the Newton County Agricultural High School. He married Bernice Harrison on February 1, 1936 and they were sweethearts until her death on May 2, 2003. Jones farmed in his early life and began his career with the United States Department of Agriculture Soil Conservation Service in 1949 first being assigned to Greene County, Leakesville, Ms. He and his family transferred to Lee County in 1960 where he made his home until his death. He retired in 1979 after 33 years with USDA. He was the farmer and landowner’s friend and was awarded the Distinguished Service Award and the Certificate of Merit by the Soil Conservation Service. He was a Master Mason affiliated with the Leakesville Lodge and received his 50-year pin several years ago. At the time of his death, Mr. Jones was the oldest male member of Harrisburg Baptist Church where he faithfully and actively worshipped for 47 years. He was an ordained Baptist deacon, was a member of the Rieves/Twitty Sunday School class, was treasurer of the Sunday School Department for 18 years and regularly visited the sick and “old folks”. Active literally to the end of his life, Jones was known far and wide for his gardening skills and his love of the outdoors. He regularly gave vegetables to his neighbors on Shumacola Trail and his greater Harrisburg family.

Pallbearers were: Hayes, Wayne and Mike McMahon, Wilbert Easom, Sonny Harrison and Larry Lindsey. Honorary pallbearers: were members of the Rieves/Twitty SS class at Harrisburg.

Memorials may be made to Harrisburg Baptist Church, 4675 Cliff Gookin Blvd. Tupelo Ms. 38801 or to the Gideon’s Bible League, P.O. Box 1073, Tupelo, Ms. 38802.





Mr. Donald Glenn Gordy



Services for Mr. Donald Glenn Gordy were held Saturday, May 19, 2007 at 11 a.m. at Barham Chapel in Newton with the Rev. Leon Stuart officiating. Burial was in Decedar Baptist Church cemetery with Barham Funeral Home in Newton in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Gordy, 73, of Lawrence died Thursday, May 17, 2007 at his residence.

Survivors include: Wife; Carolyn M. Gordy, Lawrence, son: Wayne Gordy and wife, Rachel of Forest, grandchildren: Marissa and Kristen Gordy of Forest, step-children: Lenee Lockey and husband Tim of Collinsville and Joey Miles of Hattiesburg, step-grandchildren: Leia Garrett, and husband Alex Luke Lockey and Isabella Miles. Several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first wife: Carolyn Fulton Gordy and parents Floyd and Annie Gordy, sister: Eileen Doyle and brother Mason Gordy.

Mr. Gordy was a longtime farmer and dairyman and previous owner of Wee Care Childcare in Newton.

Pallbearers were Ronnie Harvey, Willard Lyles, Dennis Gordy, David Quinn, Paul Baucum and Eric Gordy.
