NEWTON —
W. Frank Patterson
Services for W. Frank Patterson were held Sunday, July 9 at 3 p.m. at Barham Chapel with the Revs. Brent Parks and Paul Swindol officiating. Burial was in Mt. Zion Methodist Church Cemetery with Barham Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Visitation was Saturday, July 8 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Patterson, 76, of Decatur died Thursday, July 6.
He was retired with MSG Army Reserves.
Survivors include his wife, Lottie Patterson of Decatur; a son, William Stanley and wife Penny of Port Orange, Fla.; a stepdaughter, Merita Cherry and husband Danny of Decatur; grandchildren, T.J.. and Christian Patterson of Port Orange, Fla.; step-granddaughter, Kay Chambers and husband Tim of Decatur; a step-great-grandson, Mac Chambers of Decatur; two brothers, Melburn Patterson of Decatur, Ala. and the Rev. Hulton Patterson of Jackson, Tenn.; and two sisters, Bonnie Howard of Chapel Hill, Tenn. and Thelma Justice of Headlean, Ala.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Flossie Patterson and Buford Patterson of Henderson, Tenn. and brother, Freelon Patterson of Odessa, Texas.
He was born in Henderson, Tenn., was a member of Newton Church of Christ, enjoyed yard work and growing azaleas. He was recognized many times for his yard and azaleas. He was an avid fan of Tennessee Volunteers and enjoyed all football and basketball.
Sarah Alice West
Sarah Alice Barksdale West, 96 , of Lawrence, and formerly of Summit, went home to be with her Lord on Friday, July 7, 2006 . Visitation was Monday at Hartman Funeral Home in McComb. Her Homegoing celebration was 2 p.m. July 10 at Tangipahoa Baptist Church in Summit.
Mrs. West is survived by her sons: Malcolm “Mac” West and wife Gretchen of Sunset Beach, N.C.; Charles West and wife Ciarlene of Breckenridge. Texas; James (Jim) West and wife Jeanne of Plano, Texas; and her daughters, Sarah Manor of Madison and Juanita West of Newton; nine grandchildren, Gwen and Jeny Manor, Keith, Kevin, Craig, Will, Amanda, and Megan West and Tori Rush (Dave); and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Clyde Correll West; a brother, Spurgeon Barksdale and a sister, Selma Barksdale Mock.
She was born in Copiah County on Sept. 9, 1909 to Naomi Ellen Moak and Joseph Decatur Barkadale. Mrs. West grew up and lived a portion of her adult life in Amite and Pike counties.
She began her career as a registered nurse at the old McComb Infirmary. She married Clyde C. West of Copiah County, and in the early 50’s, they moved their family of five children to Yazoo City. She worked many years at Kings Daughters Hospital and then several years for the Yazoo County Health Department. She and her husband returned to Amite County in 1969, and she finished her working career with the Pike County Health Department in McComb.
Mrs. West was an avid flower grower and gardener. She was also quite adept at sewing, needle point work, knitting. and crocheting. Through the years, she was involved in various community organizations and was an active member of her local churches but was especially committed to her home church, Tangipahoa Baptist Church in Amite County.
She was a devoted wife and a dedicated mother who loved and cherished her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her love and concern for family also included her extended family members of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and in-laws.
Mrs. West enjoyed a long, blessed, and happy life. She was able to continue living at home through the able assistance of her regular caregivers and the staff of Aesrcare Hospice in Philadelphia.
The family requests memorials be made to any missions organization, church, charity, or local hospice.
Frances Barber
Services for Mrs. Frances Barber, 83, of Lake were held Wednesday, July 5 at Sand Ridge Baptist Church with burial in Ephesus Cemetery with the Rev. Ryan Culpepper and Dr. Jim Everett officiating. Ott and Lee Funeral Home were in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were Chris Shirley, Jason Mitchell, Delbert Walton, Tony Massey, James Wade and Travis Watkins. Honorary pallbearers were Jimmy Mitchell and Skeet Taylor.
