Jerry Leo Haney, Jr.

DENHAM SPRINGS. La. – Jerry Leo Haney, Jr., 35, passed away at his home, Friday, August 31, 2007. Jerry attended St. Gerard and Tara High School, where he was a

star football player. His younger brother Paul, never missed a game, and admired his older brother’s dedication to the game. Paul envied his brother’s ability to play sports, and always wished that he were a player, too. Jerry was a very intelligent man, who loved to read and was a very deep person. He was intrigued by all of the mysteries of the world, which set him apart from many people. In his early years, both his little brothers, KJ and Paul, admired his ability to exude confidence in every walk of his life. His loving sisters, Beth Ann and Deborah, were always there to take care of him when needed. Beth Ann and Jerry were best friends. She was always there for him no matter what he did; they have a bond that will never been broken. His dear

mother loved him so much it hurt. He had many other family members and friends who also loved him beyond words. Jerry loved animals. He especially loved his beautiful dog, Addie. They shared a very special bond. Jerry considered his love of animals, as the only kind of true love, unconditional. His love for animals exceeded just dogs, as he had been seen napping with baby raccoons, and never missed a chance to the best of his ability to care for any orphan animal. Jerry also shared a special love with his fiancée, Nikki. She stood by his side faithfully through thick and thin. Jerry loved her very much, although he was only capable of showing love the way that only Jerry could. After reading one of many books, he once quoted Julie de L’Espinasse, in saying, regarding Nikki, “I love you as one should, to excess. With folly, delight, and despair... But, my friend, I do something better than to love. I know how to suffer.” His disease is not one that not only affected Jerry, but also affected all of those who desperately tried to save him. Jerry did not have a desire to die, but a desire to stop the emotional pain. For all of us who deeply knew him, he will be truly missed. Jerry is lost no more. Visitation was at Seale Funeral Home, Denham Springs on Sunday, Sept. 2, 2007 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. He is survived by his mother, Pauline Sublett Albarado, and husband, Roger J.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Beth Watson Boudreaux, and husband Duane, Deborah Haney Freeman, and husband, Jerry; brothers and sisters-in-law, Paul Sublett Haney, and wife, Sarah Leigh, K.J. Haney, and wife, Jonnel, step brother, Tony Albarado and wife, Annett; step sister, Angela Lee, and husband, Kendall; fiancé’, Niki Griffin, and children, Shana and Shawn; nieces and nephews, Kyle and Jacob Watson, Joe and Sarah Freeman, Cade, Cameron, Caleb, McKenna, and Burke Haney; and his pit bull, Addie. He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Leo Haney, Sr.; maternal grandparents, James E. and Lorraine Sublett; and paternal grandparents, Walter and Artie Mae Haney. The honorary pallbearers are Randy Haney, Brian Brewer, Steven and Timmy Haney, and John Hensley. Services performed under the direction of Seale Funeral Services, Inc., Denham Springs, La.
