Tressie Mae Majure
Tressie Mae Majure, 93, a homemaker , formerly of Newton, died October 1, 2007, at Lynn Haven, Fla.. Visitation was held October 5, 2007, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Newton County Funeral Home in Newton. A grave side service was held at 2 p.m. at Newton County Memorial Gardens, Newton. The Rev. Josh Fidler and the Order of the Eastern Star officiated. Newton County Funeral Home handled the arrangements. Mrs. Majure was a member of the First Baptist Church of Newton and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors include a daughter, Dr. Tommye Lou Richardson of Lynn Haven, Fla; grandson James Michael Richardson of Jackson; sisters, Thelma Walters and husband Boots of Montrose; and Bobby Shofner of Wynona, and a number of nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Oliver Majure, three sisters, and four brothers.
Owen Mahon
Services for Owen Mahon were held Saturday, Oct. 6, 2007 at 11 a.m. at Union Chapel with Raymond Johnson, Jr. officiating. Burial was in Lawrence Cemetery with Clark’s Memorial Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Mahon, 92 of Lawrence, died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2007 at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center in Meridian.
Mary Beatrice Moore Brown
Funeral services for Mary Beatrice Moore Brown were held Monday, Oct. 8, 2007 at 2 p.m. at James F. Webb Funeral Home Chapel in Newton with Dr. Luke Lane officiating. Burial was in Hickory Cemetery with James F. Webb Funeral Home of Newton in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Brown, 96, of Park Ridge, IL, formerly of Newton, died Friday, Oct. 5, 2007 at St. Matthew Nursing Home. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Newton.
Survivors include: her sons; Gaines Andrew “Andy” Brown, and his wife, Gail of Houston, Texas, Henry Foley Brown and his wife Marlene of Houston; Harry Moore Brown and his wife Kathy of Park Ridge Ill.; grandchildren, Kristen Leigh Holidy and her husband, Rett of Houston, Texas; Jennifer Gray and her husband, William of Houston; Debbie Croft, and her husband Mike of Caledonia; Olivia Kathleen Brown of Park Ridge, Ill.; great-grandchildren Barrett Gray of Houston; Chelsea Gray of Houston and Faith Croft of Caledonia.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gaines A. Brown, Sr.
Pallbearers were: William Gray, Mike Croft, Rett Holiday, William Emmons, John Brand and Andy Armstrong.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, 305 East Church Street, Newton, MS 39345.
