Garland Jeffcoats
Services for Garland Jeffcoats were held Tuesday, November 7, 2006 at 3 p.m. at the Crossroads Baptist Church with the Rev. David Airhart, Jr. and Rev. Billy Emmons officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery with Milling Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Visitation was Monday evening at the funeral home.
Jeffcoats, 72, died Sunday, Nov. 5, 2006 at Mississippi Baptist Hospital in Jackson. Survivors include his loving wife of 51 1/2 years, Glenda Jeffcoats, of Decatur; three daughters, Debbie Mayes and husband Wallace of Decatur, Robin Neese and husband Dewayne of Sparta, Tenn., Anita Larkin of Havelock, N.C.; six grandchildren, Shanntal Stamper and husband Craig of Conehatta, Lee Neese of Sparta, Tenn., Blake Little of Fort Lewis, Washington, Cecilia Hankins and husband Jason of Spencer, Tenn., Sabrina Addy of Havelock, N.C., Dewayna Neese of Sparta, Tenn.; three great- grandchildren Eli and Zachary Stamper both of Conehatta and Jaylyn Hankins of Spencer, Tenn.
Jeffcoats was a longstanding deacon and Sunday school teacher of Crossroads Baptist Church. He was a salesman at Marshall Ford in Union and he served in the U.S. Army Special Forces. He was also a member of the Masonic Evergreen Lodge.
Jeffcoats was preceded in death by his parents, Will and Hettie Jeffcoats, a son, J. “Bubba” Garland Jeffcoats; two sisters, Grace Mabry and Cleo Fortune, two brothers, Claude Jeffcoats and Barney Jeffcoats, two grandsons, Jeremy Mayes and Cecil Neese, and one great grandson, Clayton Hankins.
Pallbearers include; Pat Jeffcoats, Barney Ray Jeffcoats, Danny Mabry, Melvin Todd, Robert Earl Todd, and Ted Marshall.
Honorary pallbearers; Dr. J.G. Alexander, Dr. L.B. Adkins, Bobby Everett.
