Sarah G. Buckley
Funeral services for Sarah G. Buckley were held Sunday, Dec. 2, 2007 at 2:30 p.m. at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church with the Revs. Thomas Laird and James McMillan officiating. Burial was in the Sand Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with James F. Webb Funeral Home of Newton in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Buckley, 84, of Union, formerly of Hickory, died Friday, Nov. 30, 2007 at Alliance Laird Nursing Home in Newton. She was a homemaker and a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. She worked for the Newton Company for several years and the Ben Franklin Store and was a volunteer at Newton Regional Hospital with the Pink Ladies Auxiliary.
Survivors include: a son, Rev. Benny Buckley, and his wife, Brenda, of Philadelphia; three daughters: Sara Lynda Farrow and her husband, Joe, of Hickory; Brenda Buckley Thornton and her husband, Rev. David, of Gilmer, Texas; and Sue Savell, and her husband, Rev. Don, of Union; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and a sister: Audie Thrash, of Hickory. Pallbearers were: Tim Savell, Jonathan Thornton, Justin Morrow, Wade Rucker, Michael Sessions, and Jerry Strebeck. Honorary pallbearers were: Jackie Strebeck and Arleigh Allen.

Karl E., Seepe, Jr.
Karl E. Seepe, Jr., 78, died Thanksgiving day, November 22, 2007 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 1, 2007 at 2 p.m. at the sanctuary of First Baptist Church, Jackson. Burial was in Clinton Cemetery in Clinton, with Mark Seepe Funeral Directors of Jackson in charge of arrangements.
Karl, son of Karl and Irene Seepe Sr., was born Sept. 24, 1929 in Bessemer, Ala. He attended Alcee Fortier High School in New Orleans, Mississippi College in Clinton, Southwestern Theological Seminary in Forth Worth, Texas and Troy State University in Troy, Alabama.
His church career started as an Educational Director serving in churches throughout the Southern Baptist Convention in St. Louis, Corinth, Tupelo and Jackson to name a few. Later his business career started as Executive Director of Willowood Developmental Center, later becoming a director of Adult Day Care Center for the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.
Karl was a long time member of First Baptist Church, Jackson, serving as a Deacon, Sunday School teacher and participating in numerous church related activities.
Survivors include his wife Bettye Seepe of Clinton; a daughter, Kimberly (Hamp) Beatty of Starkville; a son, Mark E. Seepe of Clinton; grandchildren, Lauren and Grant Beatty of Starkville and Eric and Ben Seepe of Jackson.

J.W. Porter
J.W. Porter passed away on Nov. 28, 2007. Visitation will be Friday, Dec. 7, 2007 from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Pleasant Grove MB Church in Newton. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 8, 2007 at 11 a.m. at Pleasant Grove MB Church.
