NEWTON William Ernest Windham

Services for William Ernest Windham were held Tuesday at the gymnasium of Newton County High School with Elder Jerry Jones officiating. Burial was in Midway Baptist Church cemetery with Progressive Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Windham, 16, died Saturday, Dec. 17, 2006 at University Medical Center in Jackson of injuries suffered in a head-on collision between his car and a school bus.

Windham is survived by his parents Ernest and Cynthia Windham of Decatur; four brothers, Brian, Robert, Mark and David, all of Decatur; a sister, Buffie Martin of Hickory; two nephews, Diason and Anterrian Martin; grandfather, Mr. Howard Show of Ohio and grandmother, Gloria Roth of Michigan, and a host of other relatives and friends.

William was born on Sept. 13, 1990 in Newton County. He joined the Midway Baptist Church at an early age. He was a 10th grade student at Newton County High School where he was a member of the varsity football and track teams and was the cameraman for the basketball team.

Everyone that knew William loved him and will miss him dearly.



Bonnie Hall Chapman

Services were held for Mrs. Bonnie Hall Chapman on Monday, Dec. 18 at 2 p.m. at Webb Chapel. Visitation was Dec. 17 from 4-8 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home with the Revs. Dr. Frank Harmon and Rev. Luke Lane officiating. Burial was at the Newton Masonic Cemetery with James F. Webb Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Chapman, 86, of Newton, died Dec. 16 at Woodland Court Retirement Center.

Survivors include: a daughter, Sue Chapman Harris of Newton; a son, Melvin D. and his wife Sylvia Strait Chapman of Topeka, Kan.; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by parents Mack H. and Ruby Simmons Hall and husband Melvin D. Chapman, Sr.

Mrs. Chapman was a homemaker and a member of Newton First Baptist Church.

Pallbearers will be Justin Chapman, Benjamin Chapman, Bob Moss, David Addy, Carl Walters and Billy Hopkins. Honorary pallbearers will be Stephen Harris, Will Chapman, Tony Grimes, David Quave, Bill Greene, John Madden and Keith Jordan.



Sarah Frances Jolly

Sarah Frances Jolly, 86, died Thursday, Dec. 14 at Regency Hospital in Jackson. Funeral services were 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16 at Ott and Lee Funeral Home Chapel in Brandon. There was a 4 p.m. graveside service at Pine Ridge Cemetery in Lake. Elder George Gardner and Elder Doyle Moore officiated the services.

Mrs. Jolly was a native and lifelong resident of Newton County. She was a member of Sharon Primitive Baptist Church in Lake and was a very loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Mrs. Jolly was preceded in death by her husband, Alton Jolly, in 1999 and son Richard Jolly in 1978.

Survivors include sons Billy Jolly and his wife Sharyn of Brandon, Jimmy Jolly and wife Pat of Richland and Tommy Jolly and wife Sally of Jackson; brothers, Jesse Dennis of Pearl, Pat Dennis of Laurel and Boyd Dennis of Mobile, Ala.; 6 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Lance Jolly, Kent Jolly, Darin Jolly, Steven Jolly, Sidney Dennis and Chris Holloway.



Albert McDougle

Services for Mr. Albert McDougle were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19 at Little Mountain Baptist Church. The Rev. Johnny L. Robinson officiated with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation was Tuesday at 10 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m.

Mr. McDougle, 80, passed away Friday, Dec. 15 at his residence (305 Spinks St., Union).

Survivors include: 5 daughters, Lula McDougle Roberson of Philadelphia, Annie R. Clemons McDougle of Philadelphia, Marilyn Hunter of Union, Patricia Towner of Decatur, Janice Adcock of California; 4 sons, Walter McDougle of Union, Melvin Dukes of Texas, T.J. Evans of Union, Albert McDougle, Jr. of California; 18 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Emma Jewel Kidd of Chicago, Ill., Fannie Mae McDougle of Union; 3 brothers, Johnny Rue McDougle of Moss Point, Artis D. McDougle, and Charles Ray McDougle, both of Union.

Mr. McDougle was survived by a special friend, Mr. Burma Pierce. Mr. McDougle served 2 years in the U.S. Navy.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Lucille McDougle and 3 brothers, D.P. McDougle, Alton McDougle and Walter McDougle; one grandson and one granddaughter.

Pallbearers were Melvin Dukes, Walter McDougle, Andrew Jackson, Eddie D., Charles McDougle, Larry Blaylock. Flower bearers were friends of the family.
