NCA teams finish up regular seasons

The Newton County Academy Generals closed out their 2008 baseball season with an 11-1 whipping of Russell Christian Academy in Decatur on April 15.
NCA finished 4-4 in MPSA District 4-A and 7-8 overall.
Landon Burt threw four innings of shutout ball to get the win. He struck out 10 and walked five.
Dillon Williams threw the fifth frame, striking out one and allowing one walk and one hit.
NCA scored three runs in the first inning and took a 7-0 lead with four more in the second. A four-run fifth brought the run rule into play.
Anthony Williams drove in two runs with a pair of doubles for the Generals. Jeffrey Maxwell had a single, a double, and two RBI. Dillon Williams had a triple and two RBI. Chris Harris had a pair of singles, while Burt had one single.
John Mark Harris took the loss for the Warriors.
Dustin Card doubled for Russell, but was thrown out trying to stretch the hit into a triple.

Softball
The Newton County Academy Lady Generals wrapped up their 2008 slowpitch softball season with a 15-2 loss to Russell Christian Academy on April 15 at Decatur.
The Lady Warriors took control early as they scored 10 runs in the top of the first inning, then added four more in the second to take a 14-0 lead.
Casey Jo Parker and Lauren Shimfessel both had a double for NCA, while Casey Rowzee, Anna Williams, Anna-Rose Blaylock, Kelsey Robinson, Carly Thomas, Leanne Killen, and Katelyn Stamper each had a single.
The Lady Generals scored both of their runs in the third inning.
Williams (2-4) took the loss. Brittany Stahl got the win.
