  <description>The Newton County Cougars ran into a buzzsaw in the form of the Sumrall Bobcats in the Class 3A South State championship series last week.Sumrall swept the Cougars 14-6 and 10-8 to advance to the Class 3A state championship series with Mooreville.Batting in 13 innings in the two games, Sumrall racked up 29 hits and scored 24 runs in improving to 30-6.</description>

  <description>Notes, quotes and a thought or two....James Johnson has only been on the job a week at Newton High School, but it seems he&#8217;s getting the attention of his players.I&#8217;ve dropped in on a few practices and just sat back and watched.
