NEWTON Christmas Parades

• 4th Annual Decatur Christmas Block Party and Parade will be Dec. 5. The average amount of people last year was around 3,000. This year is the second year we have asked vendors to come, so all vendors are welcomed and needed! • Lake’s Christmas Parade will be Dec. 15 at 6 p.m. To register a float, contact Belinda Evans at 445 Christian Church Rd. Lake, MS 39092 or call 601-775-3269. You may also contact Pam Luke at City Hall for a form. Deadline for registration is Dec. 10.



Logger Education

•The Southwest Mississippi Forestry Assoication and Mississippi State University Extension Service are hosting a Logger Education Program on Nov. 22 at Southwest Mississippi Community College in Summit. Brochures were mailed from MSU, but we are getting calls from individuals that have not received the information as yet. Logging professionals are required to have 12 continuing education hours every other year. The deadline for getting this year’s hours is Dec. 1. Please register by Nov. 19 by calling 601-657-8937.



Christmas Bazar

• The Annual Auxiliary Christmas Bazaar and Bake Sale will be held on Dec. 5. The Bazaar will be held at Newton Regional Hospital in the Conference room from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.

• Town of Enterprise Holiday Market will be Dec. 6 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. at the Auditorium at 500 River Road.



Clubs/Meetings

• Lawrence Community Club meets the first Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. Come and enjoy good food, timely information and fellowship. Bring your family.

• Conehatta Community Club invites you to join us each month on the third Thursday at 6 p.m. for fellowship, food, fun and always timely information. Bring a friend.

• Liberty Community Club meets the second Monday of each month at 6 p.m. in the club house on Liberty Church Road. There is always good food and excellent fellowship as well as an informative program each month. The public is invited to come join us.

• Newton County Habitat for Humanity Board of Directors meets the second Tuesday of each month at 5 p.m. at the United Methodist Church.

• Evergreen Lodge #57 F&AM meets the third Monday of each month at 7:30 p.m. All qualified masons are welcome.

•The Newton County Cattlemens meeting will be on Dec. 4, at the ECCC Gold Room. Please call Leanne McGee at 601-635-2267 at the MSU Extension service to make your reservation.



Library News

• Friends of the Library will host their annual Christmas party at the J. Elliot McMullan Public Library on Dec. 10 at 4 p.m. Guests include Melanie D. Calvert, author of A Southern Moon Rising, and W.R. Benton, author of Red Runs the Plains. Everyone is invited and refreshments will be served. Copies of the author’s books may be available for purchase.



Medicare/Medicaid

Dance

• Lou’s Pavilion will be having a country dance on Nov. 29 from 7-10 p.m. featuring Bill Burks , Crossroads Bluegrass, Hayes Crossing and others. For any information give us a call at 601-774-8339.



Lights of Love

• The Volunteers of Laird Hospital will be sponsoring the annual “Lights of Love” beginning now through Dec. A light will be placed on the Christmas tree “In Honor of” or “In Memory of” any person you desire to honor. The Christmas tree will be located in the lobby of the hospital. Donations are $5 per name and will be used for scholarships for three local students who are entering the health care field. All names must be turned in by Dec. 17.



Computer Classes

Concert

• Newton High School Gospel Choir will hold a concert on Nov. 20 at 6 p.m. at the Newton High School Auditorium. Guest choir will be ECCC Gospel Choir and speaker will be Rev. Pervis Mann of Carthage. Admission is $3.



Music

• Lou’s Pavilion, located 5 miles east of Sebastopol on Hwy. 492, will be hosting Guy McGarrity and Rev. Cooper of Rocky Hill Church as well as Crossroads Bluegrass and Hayes Crossing on Dec. 6 at 6:30-10 p.m. Call us at 601-774-8339.



Christmas Tea

• The Decatur Woman’s Progressive Club invites all senior adults in and surrounding the Decatur area to a Christmas Tea on Dec. 9 at 2-3 p.m. at Clarke Venable Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.
