The Glasgow era of basketball got under way at Union last week with Jamie leading the Lady Jackets to a 46-44 win over West Lauderdale in her debut and Dave watching the Yellowjackets fall 64-42 to the Knights in his inaugural contest.
Union hosted Neshoba Central on Tuesday and was slated to play at Nanih Waiya on Friday, but the Winston County school is in the football playoffs that night.
Union returns to action at home on Nov. 27 against Enterprise.
Union girls 46, West Lauderdale 44
The Lady Jackets opened the Jamie Glasgow era with a two-point victory over West Lauderdale on Nov. 6 at Union.
Breanna Viverette led Union with 17 points, four rebounds, and four steals. Yancey Tillman tossed in 12 points to go with four steals.
After both teams scored 13 points in the first quarter, Union took a 22-19 lead into halftime and led 30-23 in the third quarter before the Lady Knights closed to within 32-29 entering the final period.
The Lady Jackets managed to turn back each West challenge to claim the victory.
Union, 1-0, also got eight points from Cayla Yates. Quill Parker had five points, five rebounds, and three steals. Robin Moore had seven rebounds and four steals. Iesha Tyson had four rebounds.
West, 0-3, got 15 points from Roslyn Warren and 11 from Nandi Franklin.
West Lauderdale 64, Union boys 42
The ‘Jackets dropped their season opener by 22 points as West improved to 3-0.
The Knights took a 16-5 first quarter lead and were up 32-14 going into halftime. Both teams scored 16 points in the third quarter.
Michael Holley led Union with 12 points. Courtney Campbell scored eight, Kenneth Harris had seven, Sylvester Jackson six, and E.J. Cunningham four.
West got 26 points from Matthew Betts, 14 from Nathan Herrington, and nine from Terence Brown.
