Union takes two from Neshoba Central

Union wrapped up pre-Thanksgiving hoops action with a homecourt sweep of Neshoba Central on Nov. 13.
Union’s games with Nanih Waiya were postponed due to Nanih Waiya’s football playoff game.
The Lady Jackets are 2-0, while the Yellowjackets are 1-1.

Union boys 68, Neshoba Central 67
Michael Holley’s shot in the lane with four seconds remaining in regulation enabled Union to knock off the Rockets.
The ‘Jackets hit six 3-pointers in the first quarter in jumping out to a 31-18 lead. The next three quarters only added 31 more points as the teams were tied at 62 at the end of regulation.
Union held a 62-55 lead with 4:34 to go in the fourth quarter, but the Rockets closed the quarter with a 7-0 run to force overtime.
Octavius Wallace hit three 3-pointers in leading Union, 1-1, with 20 points.
Holley finished with 15, Courtney Campbell had 13, Sylvester Jackson added nine, Kenneth Harris had six, and Shunadrick Landfair tossed in five.
Neshoba Central got 27 points from Brandon Fulton and 16 from Daniel Cheatham.

Union girls 50, Neshoba Central 45
The Lady Jackets used a 15-9 scoring advantage in the fourth quarter to improve to 2-0 with the win over the Lady Rockets.
Neshoba Central led 16-15 after one quarter, but Union carried a 26-23 lead into halftime. The Lady Rockets outscored Union 13-9 in the third quarter to take a 36-35 advantage into the final period.
Breanna Viverette led Union with 16 points, three rebounds, four steals, and five assists.
Yancey Tillman added a dozen points, while Quill Parker had eight points and seven rebounds. Robin Moore had eight points, three rebounds, three steals, and two assists. Iesha Tyson had three points and four boards.
The Lady Rockets got 16 points from Leslie Morgan, 13 from Doris McWilliams, and nine from Kendra Henderson.
