Lamb-Gordon to wed in June

— Together with their parents, Brenda Waller Lamb and Marcus Craig Gordon announce their engagement. Ms. Lamb is the daughter of Mrs. Marvin Holcombe Waller and the late Mr. Waller of Oxford. Mr. Gordon is the son of Circuit Court Judge and Mrs. Marcus D. Gordon of Union.
The couple will exchange vows at 2:30 pm on June 21, 2008, at antebellum Clear Creek Baptist Church in Oxford, with a reception to follow in the church fellowship hall.
The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Lucius Waller of Oxford, and Mr. and Mrs. Nevy Franklin Saunders of Batesville.
A graduate of Oxford High School and the University of Mississippi with a baccalaureate degree in home economics, Ms. Lamb is a national board certified educator in career and technical education. She is a former teacher at Water Valley High School and is presently employed as a career discovery teacher at Lafayette Middle School in Oxford.
The prospective groom is the grandson of Mrs. Pauline Germany Matthews and the late Hugh W. Matthews and the late Mr. and Mrs. Marcus Benton Gordon, all of Union.
An honors graduate of Union High School, Mr. Gordon received the Associate of Science degree from East Central Community College in Decatur. He also earned a baccalaureate degree in biological sciences and a Master of Education and a Specialist in Education degree in the area of Educational Leadership, all from the University of Mississippi in Oxford. He is currently completing the requirements for a doctor of philosophy degree in Educational Leadership from Mississippi State University in Starkville. Mr. Gordon is a former educator in the Oxford, South Panola and Lafayette County school districts and is presently an advanced science teacher and the science department chairman at Philadelphia High School in Philadelphia, Mississippi.
Following the ceremony and a honeymoon on an eastern Caribbean cruise to Puerto Rico, Barbados and other islands in the West Indies, the couple is expected to make their home in Oxford.
