Beatty–Priddy to marry December 20

NEWTON Mr. and Mrs. Hamp Beatty of Starkville are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Lauren Edith Beatty, to Matthew William Priddy, son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Priddy of Melbourne, Florida.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mrs. Bettye Seepe and the late Karl Seepe, Jr. of Clinton, and the late Preston and Margaret Beatty of Newton.

The prospective groom is the grandson of Mrs. Mildrid Newman and the late Derrick Newman of Highworth, England, and the late Donald and Betty Priddy of San Antonio, Texas.

Miss Beatty is a 2004 highest honors graduate of Lamar School in Meridian. She graduated summa cum laude from Mississippi State University in May 2008, where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in biological engineering and a minor in mathematics. While an undergraduate, Miss Beatty was a cheerleader for four years and was co-captain her senior year. She was awarded Most Outstanding Senior for biological engineering and was inducted into the Bagley College of Engineering Student Hall of Fame. She is employed by Mississippi State as a graduate assistant pursuing a Master of Science degree in biomedical engineering.

Mr. Priddy is a 2004 highest honors graduate of Caledonia High School. He graduated summa cum laude from Mississippi State University in May 2008, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering and a minor in mathematics. Mr. Priddy is in his second year as president of the civil engineering national honor society Chi Epsilon. He is employed by Mississippi State as a graduate assistant pursuing a Master of Science degree in civil engineering.

The couple will exchange vows at 5 p.m. on December 20, 2008, at First Presbyterian Church in Starkville. A reception will be held at Historic Hotel Chester.
